Quite an interesting question, isn’t it?

In this video, I’ll show you how you can prepare for a C1 level and I will tell you exactly what you have to do, step by step, to get there. You’ll have to work a lot!!

1) Have a system. You know what my usual method consists of, right? Having a system is probably the most important aspect of any learning goal you can set yourself. Once you’ve got a B2 level, you can be labelled as an “autonomous” learner, so it should be fine for you to study by yourself.

2) Be realistic and expect 6 months at least.

3) Make native friends. I can’t stress this enough. Focus on making friends. Spend at least 30 minutes a day trying to reach out to people from other countries, sending messages, arranging skype sessions or attending a physical tandem. You need to GET REAL!

4) Do advanced reading. The more you learn, the richer your language, use of English, vocabulary, etc. The more accurate and rich the way you express yourself must be.

5) Force real writing. This one is big! Look for situations and contexts where you have to write to REAL companies, events, shops, etc. Force yourself into real interactions where you’ll have no choice but to write well.

6) Do “past papers”. Finally, you’ll need to have a reference in order to know whether you actually have the level or not, as a roadmap. Doing past papers is key in that respect.

Here you have the video, to go into detail.
