En el episodio de hoy, Mónica y yo, además de pasarlo en grande como de costumbre, contestamos la pregunta de uno de nuestros oyentes, Miguel, que quiere saber cómo puede usar inglés en entornos internacionales.
Seguro que te suena la situación, tal vez estés en un puesto muy parecido al de Miguel o puede que acabes realizando una actividad que te lleve a viajar. El mundo está cambiando, y cada vez es más normal trabajar desde casa o teletrabajar, que tu empresa tenga oficina central en alguna capital Europea, hacer unas prácticas en el extranjero, que tengas que asistir a reuniones con representates de sucursales en distintos países, etc.
Este tipo de situación impone a veces, lo admito. Si es tu caso, quizá te cueste dar el salto con el inglés y expresarte como te gustaría, aportar a la conversación, hacer amistad con tus compañeros internacionales, etc. I perfectly understand you, I have been in international contexts. For example, when I lived in England as an Erasmus student. Cuando viví mi año erasmus en Chester, al principio me costó adaptarme a estar rodeado de gente de otros países. Mi pareja, Esmeralda, trabaja de enfermera en un hospital de Oxford, y también pasó por algo parecido teniendo que trabajar con gente de muchos países (although there are lots of Spaniards in Oxford!). En general, la primera vez que te ves en una situación donde no hay otros hispanohablantes, donde eres el inmigrante, te sientes extraño, pero luego se convierte en algo increíble y un punto a favor. Es algo cada vez más frecuente, pero ¡para nada negativo o estresante como lo ves en tu cabeza, de verdad!
Making friends from different parts of the world is probably one of the most beautiful things you will ever do. Abrirte a conocer otras culturas, aprender de otros países, ver cómo vive la gente o hacer amistad con otras nacionalidades vale mucho más que un máster, que un CV o similares, es una de las experiencias más enriquecedoras que jamás harás.
